At H Bar Saddlery we take pride in customizing stirrups to your liking. Our goal is to make the customization process as smooth as possible. There are several ways that we can customize them for you including, width, style, metal, design, brands or initials, and treads/lining.
Width
Stirrups are made in different widths. If your foot is in the stirrup, it would be the measurement of the stirrup from arch to toe. Our standard size is 4” but we can also do 3,4,5, or 6”. Some riders prefer a narrower stirrup because their feet stay in their stirrups better. While some prefer a wider stirrup that provides more support. A wider stirrup allows the rider to ride with their stirrup all the way into the arch of their foot while still having support on the ball of their foot.
Style
Style refers to the side profile shape of the stirrup, we offer two main styles Visalia or Bell (in the picture below Visalias on the left and bells on the right). Visalia stirrups are straight from the top to the bottom whereas Bells are shaped more like a bell.
Standard Visalia stirrups are 2X4”, meaning that the stirrup is 2” wide at the top and 4” wide at the bottom, but we customize these dimensions to your liking. We can do 2x5", 3x5", 4x5", 2x6", 3x6", or 4x6" Visalia stirrups as well.
Metal
We typically wrap our stirrups in mirror finish stainless steel, also known as Monel, but we can also use copper or brass.
Design
The designs on our stirrups set us apart from other stirrup makers. We have a lot of different etching designs available to choose from. If you have a particular design in mind let us know, we are happy to consider new etching patterns.
Brands or Initials
We enjoy helping customers incorporate their brands, logos, or initials into the design of their stirrups. We are very detail-oriented and understand that brands need to be just right. When doing custom brands, we need a good picture of the brand or a digital vectored copy. If you have a logo you want on the stirrups, we will need a good digital copy. Before we etch, we always provide our customers with a proof that they can approve. We want to make sure it's correct before it goes on metal.
Treads and Lining
A lot of people ride our stirrups without anything added to the inside, but here are some options:
-Leather treads, leather tacked into the bottom of the stirrups.
-Leather Lined, leather lining on the inside of the stirrups.
-Wedges, leather is added in the shape of a wedge and then treads, or lining is added. Wedges help prevent knee and ankle discomfort making the bottom of the foot parallel to the ground.
