Welcome to H Bar Saddlery, a small family-owned and operated business that specializes in building custom stirrups.

My family has always been obsessed with building and creating things with our own hands. We have been building wood products as a part-time business since the 1990s. My dad (Lorin Hatch) has been dreaming of being able to make a living working in the shop for years.

As a teen, I (Justin Hatch) wanted to try building stirrups. The first attempt was crude and unrefined, to say the least. We realized that stirrup building was extremely difficult and that we were too busy to refine our process.

As I started building saddles I kept coming back to the idea of building stirrups in the wood shop. With my dad and I both having full-time jobs we didn't have the time to invest in such a difficult product.

Years later my Dad was laid off from his full-time job after 35 years of employment. They say that great things grow out of adversity. Dad picked up the torch that I lit as a teenager and ran. The dream of building high-quality stirrups has been contagious! The whole family came together to develop and build these awesome stirrups. Dad is living his dream building them full-time now, I help design and sell products, and my mom (Bonnie Hatch) designs the patterns we etch on them.
